Expanding technology is basically described as producing high quality feed from cheap raw materials by expanding, increasing their volumes. In livestock farming expander feed is a outstanding feed technology for its high efficiency (especially high milk production).

   

       EXPANDER FEED PRODUCTION STAGES

  • The semi finished product which arrives at conditioner is heated up to 90°C.

  • In the expander the feed steamed up to %17.
  • Mixing and kneading components are in the shaft. This shaft has a strong body structure which consists of helix group and thick-walled jacket.
  • Feed explodes and gelatinized under 40-50 bar pressure at 90-140°C.
  • The shape of the exit ring and the hydraulic adjustment cone creates the circle shaped space. By adjusting the cone pressure; kneading power, product temperature and energy consumption can be all controlled and programmed to stay constant and stable.
  • The pressure keep rising (40 bars) as the product approaches to the exit cap. At the end in an instant the pressure level decrease to 1 bar and the products expand. The feed get doughy by the gelatinization of starch and doughy feed can be pelleted with lesser loss.
  • After expander feed particles are pelleted in the pellet unit, the product goes to the cooler and takes its final form.

By utilizing the expander, harmful microbes and microorganisms such as salmonella and mold can be eliminated, ultimately improving the efficiency of the pellet mill. The hydraulic cylinder controls the conical outlet at the expander end, enabling adjustment and programming of the compression ratio, pressure, and temperature values based on specific requirements.

Automation allows for monitoring of the compression ratio via the switch on the hydraulic cylinder. The product is brought into contact with steam through steam heads located at various points on the expander sleeves, resulting in increased temperature under pressure.

To account for wear and tear, the expander screws are removable and replaceable over the shaft shaft. For optimal results, the expander should be used in conjunction with a lump breaker at the exit, which facilitates the distribution of the molded product and the consistent feeding of the pellet mill.
